Let’s take a closer look at what the DCST970X1 has to offer (hint – it is a lot!).
One of the key features of the DEWALT DCST970X1 that makes it such a gem is its ergonomic design. Weighing only 12 lbs, this string trimmer is easy to use and much less draining for a user than other heavier gas powered machines. This reduction in weight allows a user to outlast the battery charge and/or have the energy to continue working after the job is done.
I’d give this feature 2 thumbs up!
The DEWALT string trimmer has a 60V MAX* 3Ah Lithium-Ion Battery. This battery holds a longer charge and offers a higher power level than smaller batteries. The only downside of this battery is that it only holds its charge for about 45 minutes. Though this is a downside to this trimmer, it is an easily remedied shortcoming. To fix this problem, the best solution I found was to purchase additional batteries. Additional batteries let the user replace the spent battery with a charged one while charging the spent one.
I’d give this feature a partial thumbs up and partial thumbs down. The fact that you need to get another battery to make up for the short run time of a battery is an inconvenience and an added expense.
The adjustable power level allows the user to optimize the high-efficiency brushless motor for better runtime and motor life. The two power levels, high and low, let the user decide how much power is needed to complete a job. Though it's rather self-explanatory, using the high-level setting should be used on tougher projects, and the lower level should be used on smaller jobs.
I’d give this feature a thumbs up!
The pain of having to pull start a gas-powered trimmer isn't something you have to deal with when starting the DEWALT DCST970X1 FLEXVOLT. This is hands down one of the best qualities of this trimmer. Wasting all that energy and time pulling and pulling to start a gas motor can be draining. This trimmer is not only effortless to start, but more time efficient.
I’d give this feature a double thumbs up!! Who doesn’t love an easy-start motor?
The bump feeder is the only concern to this trimmer that I have found. I don’t know about you, but every trimmer I’ve used that has a bump feed has eventually worn out and stopped working. That being said, I can't say that I would have the same issues with this trimmer.
Thumbs sideways 🙂

THANKS FOR READING
As I said earlier, I have never personally tested the DCST970X1, but all the reviews and product descriptions make me what to give it a try.
I love the idea of a lightweight string trimmer and a decent power level that stays consistent throughout use. I also like the idea of purchasing extra batteries to switch out after one battery needs to be recharged, so work doesn't have to stop. Though this wasn't my idea, I think it's brilliant and would suggest extra batteries to anyone who purchases this trimmer.
All in all, I’d say this is a great trimmer! The few downsides are minimal and pretty easily resolved. It's difficult to look at this machine and find any downfalls that would make it anything but worth purchasing.
If you can see a major downside to owning this trimmer that can't be overcome, I'd love to hear it.
